Traditionally, the organizer of this conference is the Grodno branch of the “Belarusian Peace Foundation” with the support of the main directorates for ideological work, culture and youth affairs, Grodno oblast executive committee, and with the active assistance of Grodno universities and public organizations of the region. It is not by chance that the Battle of Kursk is the focus of attention. It was this battle, which lasted from July 5 to August 23, 1943, was a turning point in the course of the Great Patriotic War. This year the conference was hosted by Grodno State Agrarian University.
More than 30 students of three universities delivered reports. Also, for many years the conference united different generations. Together with the students, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the Armed Forces of Belarus, Valentin Baranov, Lidia Zhitkevich, Grigory Obilevsky, Nikolai Lagutkin and others took part in it. After the plenary session, the work continued in four thematic sections. Student reports were devoted to various aspects of the Great Patriotic War. Following the conference, the authors of the best reports were awarded valuable gifts and memorable diplomas.
And the Belarusian Peace Foundation additionally presented the winners with the book “Children for Peace”, which are a special edition of the works of schoolchildren participating in the republican contest “The Happiness of Living in a Peaceful Country”, conducted by the Peace Foundation.
