Grodno region celebrates on May 9.

Seventy-three years ago the most bloody war in the history of our people was over. For the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Belarus paid a high price: one in every three people died.

Our people not only won this war, but also built a new prosperous state. And now Victory Day is the main holiday in Belarus. Today, veterans of the war are at the center of attention. They have already crossed the threshold of 90 years, but now after generations – for them this holiday with tears in their eyes. Memories of those battles, those encounters with fellow soldiers, those events are alive.

In the celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the Great Victory, thousands of Grodno citizens took part in the regional center. The procession of memory passed along the prospect of Cosmonauts – to a sign for every citizen of the place – the Mound of Glory. The symbolic parade was led by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the leadership of the region and the city. The festive column was proudly hosted by the activists of the Belarusian Peace Foundation, who congratulated the veterans and residents of the city on this significant and very important holiday and promised to make every effort to ensure that this never happened in our country or in the world. Congratulations on Victory Day!
