On June 19-20, 2023, the Third United Nations High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The main theme of the conference is “The fight against terrorism through enhanced multilateralism and institutional cooperation.”
The Conference provided a timely opportunity to consider the practical implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and its review resolutions in accordance with the priorities of Member States, including with regard to human rights, interaction with youth and civil society.
In addition, the Conference provided Member States, United Nations entities, intergovernmental organizations, civil society and the private sector with an important platform for sharing information, experiences and best practices while exploring further cooperation.
In preparation for the conference, the practice of involving civil society organizations continued in accordance with the results of the first High-level International Conference on Human Rights, Civil Society and the Fight against Terrorism, organized jointly with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office (UNSC). The Belarusian Peace Foundation was invited from the Republic of Belarus to participate in the Conference, which was presented by Andrey Balabin, Deputy Chairman of the Board for International Affairs.
